Isaiah 53.1-3 NRSV
Who has believed what we have heard?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For he grew up before him like a young plant,
and like a root out of dry ground;
he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by others;
a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity;
and as one from whom others hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him of no account.
We adore you O ‘Christ and we bless you because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.
Consider that Christ allows a woman to wipe His face. She is unafraid of the Romans or the Jews or what others think. She reaches out to a wounded bleeding man and she touches God.
O’Lord may we not turn away from our neighbor in need. May we be unafraid to touch people who you place in our pathway. May the people that the world rejects be the very ones we seek to Love. Amen.
